fun with fire trucks

living downtown we are very close to a fire station. i love watching for fire trucks and other siren-producing vehicles out the window and from the balcony. we have driven by the fire station a few times but this past week the hook and ladder truck was just coming back in from fighting a fire and the firemen offered to let me check it out up close. wow!

last night daddy and mommy took me downstairs to do more sidewalk chalk, we drew and drew and drew until the sun set and the birds were going to sleep. i was back out there first thing this morning with daddy to draw a little more.

silliness

last night mommy, daddy and i were unpacking some things at grammy and grampops' condo, where we will be living for the next six months. we were all being a little silly, i was having a great time. now, how to incorporate this into my halloween costume?

here's my new haircut, courtesy of mommy and daddy. i think it's fine, mommy's not so sure. at least i don't have to wear ponytails now.

mommy took me swinging last week near daddy's office while we were waiting for him to go to lunch. i love to go "very way up high".

when i was at the zoo with daddy on sunday they were doing a demonstration with an albino boa constrictor. i liked it so much i convinced daddy to buy me a button with the snake on it to support the wildlife fund.

this past weekend daddy found my sidewalk chalk while packing up our basement so i've been having a great time marking up various sidewalks outside the apartment building. i have been told i shouldn't draw on the building though, which is very disappointing.

i am quite the ham

you may notice the small mark over my eye, i burned myself cooking tofu with daddy. i now know not to get so close to the pan, and daddy has brought out the splatter guard.

my construction skills improve weekly, here i am installing some shelves in the laundry room.

adventure science center

this past week mommy took me to the adventure science center for the first time. i had a grand time playing with trains, legos, driving an ambulance, going down slides and throwing balls. i'm not sure how much i really learned about science, but it's a great place to play!

and here's an extra one daddy took of me wearing the dress he brought me from china two years ago and we've been waiting for me to grow into. i added the hat, what do you think?

friday night on the town, saturday running errands

now that we're living downtown, we've been heading out on friday nights looking for fun and a bit of food. this past friday we found both at bb king's joint, the band dedicated a song to me and i really danced it up with daddy. i was wearing my new tye-dyed t-shirt that i made at school this summer, isn't it fabulous?
on saturday we went to see a play of little red riding hood and then ran errands. i got hot and tired waiting in the car for daddy but mommy tried hard to keep me entertained by taking funny pictures and we sang a lot of silly songs together. here i am, cheesing it up. this is my "go-to" expression when asked to smile for the camera.

joys of summer

we've been moving into grammy and grampops' condo downtown while our house gets some work done on it so mommy hasn't been able to put many pictures up on the blog. but here are a few to tide everyone over until mommy gets a new system figured out.

the best parts about moving downtown are the pool at the condo and the ice cream shop a couple of blocks away. summer has never been better!

memorial day

on memorial day mommy had to work but daddy took me swimming and to a barbeque. when we got home from swimming i found a worm! by the time daddy noticed it was mysteriously missing a chunk... wonder how that happened?

the barbeque was at my friend aria's house, it was really hot so we took a break and did some swinging in the shade for a little bit. we had a great time playing with sand, a ball, eating and getting into things we weren't supposed to.

whoa, have we got some catching up to do!

mommy and i hadn't posted anything in months, except for a few random pictures, so we decided to get caught up before it gets too out of control. last weekend gram was in town and we had a blast celebrating my second birthday. i will post pictures from our mini-party after this coming weekend when pops, unk b, grammy and grampops are going to help me celebrate again. i am a lucky girl getting two birthday parties... does this mean i'll get three next year for my third birthday?

eating hot dogs for lunch at "the dog"

gram, mommy and daddy took me to my first play, a production of peter pan at the belcourt theatre. i loved the dancing dog and the dancing lion and the dancing monkey... pretty much i love watching dancing but i can do without the talking parts.

a month and a half ago it was easter. we dyed eggs, which mommy kind of messed up because she bought brown eggs which don't color as well as white, but they tasted good to me...

i went to an egg hunt at my friend sofia's house and the rain didn't stop us at all

by the way, in case you didn't know, i love olives. a while ago daddy taught me how i can put one on each finger and take ten with me around the house. this is very very amusing. sometimes i like to share them with mommy or daddy but usually i eat them all myself.

trip to montana

i built a snowfort with daddy and then mommy agreed to come in and lie down with me to enjoy our creation.

so back in february we took a trip to montana to visit grammy and grampops in big sky. i tried many winter sports and loved them all. i went sledding, a few times. i think this was the most fun of all, but

it was kind of nice to ride in the chariot and have daddy pull me while he and mommy went snowshoeing too...

occasionally we came in from the snow and ate.

skiing was pretty exciting too...

as was seeing what it was like to walk on ice. there weren't any skates small enough for me to try skating, but i'll be ready to see how it goes next winter.

we went to a bear and wolf recovery center and i loved seeing wolves and bears up close. the bears were huge!
